The Woodlands Symphony Brass section makes a triumphant return to Glade Arts Foundation on December 6th at 7:00pm heralding a program of classical, popular and Jazzy Christmas music.

The WSO flagship chamber group The Woodlands Symphony Brass is led by Darryl Bayer and features principal players to make up their quintet of trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. This concert is designed to delight families and young music students with reduced pricing offered for this Sunday evening performance.

In true WSO style, the program is both entertaining and educational. For the opening segment the audience is asked to listen to "Versions". Christmas carols that over the years have taken an interesting twist from ancient sounds to modern harmonies. A direct segue leads to "Classical, Christmas or Both?" The WSO plays music by classical composers Pachelbel, Beethoven and Handel. After intermission, the sounds of the most popular Christmas songs ever written fill the atmosphere with lush arrangements of melodies recorded by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Judy Garland. "Young at Heart" is a fun grouping of swing songs for the kids (but the adults might get out of their seats and dance) of Frosty, Rudolf and Santa Claus is Coming to Town along with movie soundtracks from Polar Express, Home Alone and Frozen. The concert ends with "And to All a Goodnight" - the best Christmas concert closing numbers ever!

Joining director Darryl Bayer for the concert is trumpeter Colin Sieg and his wife Emily Nagle on french horn, both graduates from the Julliard School along with Joel Brown on trombone from Rice University and Carter Loud, tuba virtuoso from Cleveland Institute of Music
