Danielle Reich had a roundabout route to jazz vocals, starting with degrees in music and psychology at the University of Florida, singing with the Houston Grand Opera chorus, and working in software, veterinary clinics, and teaching ballroom dancing. Danielle started studying jazz when she came to Houston in 2000, and now performs with ensembles based in Houston, Austin, Seattle, and New York, singing music ranging from 1910s & 20s trad jazz to jazzed pop, and from French chanson to avant-garde free improvisation.
Danielle currently performs in Houston with Swing Rendezvous (jazz manouche), Boomtown Brass Band (trad jazz) and her own trio/quartet. She also performs in Austin with Lady Be Good (Western Swing meets jazz) and has performed in the Seattle area with Nuages and Swing Provence (jazz manouche). Danielle has been a featured performer at the Trinity Jazz Festival, the Manouche NW Concert Series, the Houston Composers Salon, and the Austin Jazz Festival. Danielle also performs with avant-garde composer/bassist Thomas Helton‘s Relative Dissonance improvising ensemble, and performs new works for musicians and dancers with the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble in Houston and New York. Danielle has released two albums, "This Year's Kisses" and "While They Were Dancing," and has also recorded vocals for "Shine On," an album of original songs by Austin pianist/composer Peggy Stern. Her albums are available on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify and Pandora.
