Annette Palmer

Annette’s current series of landscapes paintings explore making and maintaining connections across long distances. Instead of corresponding with loved ones via social media, cell phones or video chat, Annette’s landscapes recall a simpler time where written letters were exchanged in a more intimate, personal and often more romantic way. Annette captures the vastness of distance, time and the longing one experiences when they send a letter and wait patiently for a response. These land and seascapes, are executed in a light, airy and atmospheric artistic medium, with flecks of metallic elements such as gold leaf, foils and mica. Today, communications are often received instantaneously, but Annette’s landscape paintings remind us about the physicality of land and sea, as well as the distance of time, from a slower, romantic pace of life.
