Daniel Elliott

As an abstract painter, what the viewer brings to the story is what completes the relationship to the work for me. A canvas moves from blank to color to form and is finished by narrative.  Witnessing a beholder’s share is what draws me again and again to create these chronicles of shared confessions.

My work distills itself into unique series, with contributions to themes forming in tandem.    My goal for each piece is to bridge the gap between reality and abstraction, offering an expression of things felt rather than things seen.  My work begins without detailed studies, and a single piece can often lead to multiple lineages.  As collections assemble themselves, images both dark and whimsical make suggestions of narratives inviting the beholder to share in the story.
