Join us on Thursday November 12 at 6:30PM for the art exhibit opening of “My love persists beyond stars and sea”, new and selected works by Glade Gallery resident artist Annette Palmer.
This new art show by Annette Palmer is particularly relevant to what everyone has had to deal with in 2020. Annette’s work explores the connections we have with others whilst being apart and try to overcome them. A subject which has run through her work over the past several years, has never been more current.
Annette creates dreamy land and seascapes with star filled skies and glimmers of reflective light, as well as using traditional graphite, charcoal and paint she has introduced fragments of antique love letters, gold and silver leaf and metallic foil. Generally working on canvas or wooden panel, she has however included in this show, a series of en plein air works on paper.
Several mixed media pieces painted outdoors, have captured the atmospheric energies of Galveston Beach, Texas. Inviting us to gaze out over the vast gulf expanse and consider who is on the far away opposite shore.
Woodlands resident Annette has travelled far from her UK roots, leaving Scotland in 1997. Consequently the subject of distance is heartfelt. “Maintaining connections is easier now than it ever was thanks to digital means, but to look out and lose yourself in the atmosphere is almost meditative, the delight in receiving a handwritten letter is simply a treasure”.
